Mountain View is located in Kiowa County, along the banks of the Washita River. It's southern horizon overlooks a panoramic vista of ancient granite mountains.

Founded at it's current location in 1903, after being literally moved across the Washita river building by building, Mountain View is known for it's community spirit, schools, water and scenery.

It is the site of one of the state's largest Horse Sales, drawing buyers and visitors from across Oklahoma and several states beyond. It also is home to the three day Mountain View Free Fair, a 90 year plus tradition, held on the first weekend in August.

Our main street includes excellent turn of the century commercial buildings. The town's first bank building currently houses the Mountain View Museum. In 2004, Mountain View was designated as the northern gateway for the Wichita Mountains Scenic Byway, running south from Mountain View through Saddle Mountain and on through Meers into the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge and Medicine Park.
